The
idea that led to Hordit came to me back in the early 90’s. Back then
computer geeks like me got most of their information from computer
magazines. Magazines like Byte, Dr. Dobb's Jounal and many others. I
was amassing stacks of computer magazines myself and wanted to
effectively leverage that resource and not just throw them away.
Essentially I wanted to create a search engine of article references.
Well
marriage, grad school, kids, jobs – life kind of got in the way and I
never completed what I then called the Article Indexing System. But
over the years early in my career I kept coming back to the core idea.
I wanted a kind of a personal knowledge base that I could tuck things
away in and quickly reference them again later. And as the Internet
became more prevalent, it seemed like a natural fit. Later the power of
being able to share information with my co-workers or subordinates also
seemed more and more appealing.
Well
after a 3 year stint leading the technology department for an online
retailer I was ready to do something different. After running it past a
few colleagues I decided to finally give this idea a real shot.
We hope you find Hordit useful!
